Peregrine Peach - Maiden Tree

£30.00

Description

Peregrine is a great variety - white fleshed and easy to grow, it is one of the best peaches for growing in the UK.

Self-fertile, so you only need one tree. Beautiful pink blossom early in the spring. You need to thin the peaches on the tree in May, and you will get massive peaches as a result. They are ready to pick from the tree over a couple of weeks in July (in a tunnel) or August (outside). One of the highlights of the year, when the peaches are ready for picking!

To get the best results in the U.K, we recommend that you train peach and nectarine trees as a fan against a south/south-west facing wall or fence, rather than growing as a free standing tree. Also, don't try goring one if you live on the side of a very exposed hillside! Plant them in a spot where it is warm, sheltered and sunny. If they are grown outside, peaches and nectarines should also be covered with a glass or polythene framework over the winter to protect them from the waterborne peach leaf curl virus.

The ideal place to grow your peach or nectarine tree is in a polytunnel or glass house!
