A hands-on practical day for those interested in learning how to prune fruit trees on a full vigour rootstock, as found in a traditional orchard.
The day will begin at the nursery with some simple theory and an overview of pruning mature trees, before heading to a mature orchard down the road (at the old Thornhayes Nursery site) for practical demonstrations, discussion and pruning practice.
Please note: It will be a day of theory, group discussions, demonstrations and the opportunity to practice pruning mature trees, with guidance and tuition from the Adam's Apples team. It is mid-winter and you may be stood about at times whilst demo's/chat is taking place; come suitably dressed!
Teas and Coffees will be provided , but please bring a packed lunch.
Some pruning tools will be provided, but please bring your own pole saws, pole loppers and pruning saws if you have them.
