Description
The small-leaved lime is a native species to te British Islands, vital tree for wildlife and conservation. Its sweet-smelling flowers are a crucial late-summer food source for pollitating insects, while its leaves provide for the lime hawk-moth and other caterpillars. As an ancient woodland species, it's a key indicator of valuable habitats.
The small-leaved lime provides excellent shade and its leaves and young shoots also offer a good source of fodder for lifestock, making this tree very desirable for agroforestry schemes.
Beyond its ecological role and agroforestry potential, the small-leaved lime is an excellent amenity tree. Its elegant form and dense canopy offer wonderful shade for parks and avenues, and its resilience to pollution makes it ideal for urban areas.
Trees available in 35L peat free compost.
