We make a few hundred litres of apple juice every year , mostly from an orchard I planted in 2012. The trees are now producing a good crop, with some varieties giving us 90kgs of apples per tree!
We should get around 60 litres of juice from that one tree alone.
Interestingly , it is a variety that we have brought on ourselves, raised from a seed, called Jessica. It makes an excellent apple for juice production, tart, sweet and incredibly juicy! It is a reliable cropper, disease resistant and a strong grower - most likely a triploid. We don't know for certain it's parent plants, but I suspect Tom Putt is one of the parents, as it has a simlilar appearance.
We have grafted some trees this summer so will have some Jessica trees available for sale next winter, all being well!
