This is an old Somerset cider variety that was believed to have been lost to Britain, butrediscovered and reintroduced by Bernwode Fruit Trees in 2007, who found it on a list of trees grown by British radiologist Dr. Trevor Fitzjohn living in New Zealand. He had acquired it from another Englishman who had taken British cider varieties to New Zealand in the 1960s. It is said to produce a large tree with small to medium fruits of good to excellent quality. It was referenced in the catalogue of the London Horticultural Society in 1842, and probably dates back much further.
