The course will be held at Poltimore Farm, Farway, East Devon EX24 6EJ and will be an informal mixture of round the table discussion, with some demos out in the orchard and in the cider barn.
This 1 day course is both a fantastic introduction to cider making and a great opportunity to refine your existing skills.
Anyone can chuck apple juice in a barrel and make some eye-watering scrumpy, and there is nothing wrong with that!
However, if you want to approach your cider making with a bit more finesse and understanding, this 1 day course if for you.
Adam's Apples very own award-winning cider maker, Tom Nancarrow will guide you through all you need to know in order to produce something worth sharing.
Refine your palette – we will taste the apples and taste the ciders, learning how to identify the key components of cider itself, from the apples themselves, to the finished product. This is a crucial skill you must develop in order to make a decent cider.
We will cover fruit selection, harvesting, equipment and various cider making techniques, from making a vintage quality dry, still cider to the elixir that is a sparkling, naturally-sweet Pet Nat or Keeved Cider.
This course will set you off in the right direction for making quality, balanced cider. It will also re-orientate you in the right direction if you are feeling like you have gone adrift!
Refreshments will be provided, but please bring a packed lunch.
